Our Commitment
The Port Royal Company is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards.
Accessibility Standards
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:
- Visual impairments
- Hearing impairments
- Motor impairments
- Cognitive disabilities
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following features to improve accessibility on our platform:
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements can be accessed and operated using only a keyboard. Use Tab to navigate between elements, Enter or Space to activate buttons and links, and arrow keys for menus and selections.
Screen Reader Compatibility
Our platform is designed to work with popular screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and proper heading structure.
Color Contrast
We maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, meeting WCAG AA requirements. Our color scheme is designed to be distinguishable for users with color vision deficiencies.
Focus Indicators
Clear, visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements, making it easy to see which element is currently focused when navigating with a keyboard.
Text Alternatives
All images, icons, and non-text content include appropriate alternative text descriptions. Product images include detailed alt text describing the product.
Consistent Navigation
Navigation menus and interactive elements are consistent throughout the platform, making it easier to learn and navigate the site.
No Time Limits
Users are not required to complete tasks within time limits, except where necessary for security (such as checkout sessions).
Readable Content
Text is readable and understandable with proper font sizes, line spacing, and paragraph structure. Content can be resized up to 200% without loss of functionality.
Assistive Technologies
Our platform is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen Readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Voice Recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Windows Speech Recognition, Voice Control (macOS/iOS)
- Screen Magnification: ZoomText, Windows Magnifier, macOS Zoom
- Alternative Input Devices: Switch access, eye tracking systems
Browser Compatibility
For the best accessibility experience, we recommend using the latest versions of:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari
- Microsoft Edge
Older browser versions may not fully support all accessibility features.
Known Limitations
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
- Third-Party Content: Some content from partner dispensaries or third-party services may not meet all accessibility standards. We work with our partners to improve accessibility.
- PDF Documents: Some downloadable documents may not be fully accessible. Contact us for alternative formats.
- Maps: Interactive maps may have limited accessibility. Text alternatives are provided where possible.
- User-Generated Content: Reviews and other user content may not always include proper accessibility attributes.

Third-Party Content
Our platform includes content from third-party partners, including dispensary listings and product information. While we require our partners to meet accessibility standards, some third-party content may not be fully accessible. We continue to work with our partners to improve accessibility across all content.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to ongoing accessibility improvements. Our efforts include:
- Regular accessibility audits using automated tools and manual testing
- User testing with people who use assistive technologies
- Training for our development and content teams

Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
Budbo is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to achieve full conformance.
Assessment Methods
Budbo assesses accessibility through:
- Self-evaluation using automated accessibility testing tools
- Manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers
- Review against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria
- User feedback and testing
